Even though they have tons of cushioning, they are so light that I never felt slow at the push off/start or any discomfort on sidewalks/concrete. ![]() ![]() “I enjoyed wearing these shoes on both long and shorter runs. So, if you like your shoes to be on the snug side, you might consider going down a half size. Our testers unanimously agreed that the stretchy upper makes the shoe feel a little roomy. I wear really short athletic socks, but my socks still came just above the collar and never had any problems with rubbing.” I thought the collar without padding would be uncomfortable and cause rubbing or blisters, but it was a non-issue. It all seemed like a sock or glove-thin, smooth, and stretchy material. “There were no hard plastic parts to this shoe. “Oh no, I may actually like this weird ankle sock look!” gushed one long-time tester. The rest of the upper is exceptionally conforming, too, which lends to the overall comfort that our testers praised. But, in this execution, the stretchy collar flexes easily around your bony bits and doesn’t cause any real issues. And, in most cases, forget wearing short socks. They’re largely unnecessary and, when done poorly, cause irritation as the material digs at exposed ankles. To be honest, I wish the trend toward tall-cut bootie uppers would end. Trevor Raab A Stretchy, Yet Supportive Upper It’s possible to land heel-first and roll through your stride, but you’ll find the experience more responsive and enjoyable if you land further toward your toes. That’s because there’s a pronounced rocker-a bump-under the middle of the shoe that you can feel. Midfoot and forefoot strikers, in particular, liked the shoe’s ride. “I didn't feel like I was carrying extra weight, and the shoe did not make my feet and legs feel heavy with every footstrike.” “The GOrun 7 Hyper allowed me to feel the ground with every footstrike,” says one tester who logs 40 miles per week at 8:30 pace. But, the foam that is there does an excellent job protecting you from pavement and concrete, while also helping you turn the legs over quickly.Įven so, our wear testers really appreciated the balance of cushioning you get from such a lightweight shoe. The new GOrun, even with the exciting new foam, still has a decidedly firm landing. The GOrun has always been its firmer everyday training shoe, while the GOrun Ride is the plusher, softer model that some of us dig to cruise through easy recovery runs. Let’s reflect for a second on Skechers’s running lineup. Our test team loved the stretchy knit upper, which is especially flexible over the top of your toes, but doesn’t stretch along the sides, where you need the extra support. When you land, the pods compress individually as they get loaded with weight, making the shoe feel smooth and soft. Skechers brought all that back to boost the shoe’s cushioning power and seamless transition. The outsole has pods on the bottom of the foot-you might remember them from the original GOrun, along with the noticeable midfoot bump. When you run in it, the GOrun 7 feels firm yet protective. There’s a load of science behind it, but the process creates foam with a unique cellular structure that is more durable and springy than the stuff you find in many running shoes. Instead of blowing it into shape with chemicals, the foam is made when CO2 is heated under pressure and becomes a supercritical fluid. This new midsole is EVA-based, but Skechers uses a different molding process. Launched right after the recently unveiled GOrun Razor 3, the GOrun 7 is the next shoe in the Skechers Performance line built with the company’s Hyper Burst foam.
